The Lot Café in Edinburgh's Grassmarket is now hosting an exhibition of my Christiania-related work. Two of my original oil portraits, 5 sketches and loads of interesting photos and writings are on display. My book is also on sale in the café.

Here is the new book - Christiania, Reflected Through Portraiture. I am really pleased with it. The quality and colour is very good! There are a limited number, so first come first serve. Hard covers are £30 plus postage and packaging. Soft covers are £23 plus P&P.

Expect to find yourself humming it for days - it seems to have that effect on people:) 

The pictures in the slideshow show some of my paintings and photos of Leif and me singing, Bobby the producer and Ole, the bass guitarist.

So this year is coming to a close and I'm inspired by what Susan Boyle has achieved this year - it has been a crazy, crazy year for her, but she has inspired so many others to keep believing in their dreams - me included. Perhaps I should ask her if she would like a proper portrait done?? It's a legit question, but how do I ask a question like that without sounding like I am just wanting to ride on her glory? Och, the truth will out:)

Anyway, I am pleased with what I have achieved. I have not sold 3 million calendars, but 90 is not bad for an unknown like me:) I have exhibited my paintings in Christiania, without quite 300,000,000 viewers seeing my paintings, but people from many different nations did all the same.

One American lady was so taken by my paintings she didn't just want me to sign a poster of my work that she bought, but also a random poster of Christiania. I did, however oblige to the photoshoot. The celeb status nearly got to my head when someone recognised my paintings from television and came over to give me a hug! But my feet are firmly back on the ground as I think about my future...

What is my strategy for 2010? Probably similar to 2009 - do what I believe is right and plod on, convinced that there will be a breakthrough. Hopefully I don't have to wait till I'm 47 though!

I have cut my first record with my friend Leif to great acclaim by the few that have bothered to listen. It is a surprisingly enjoyable record - hope you check it out in Christiania, next time you happen to be passing by...

I have had some publicity...in a magazine called North Art Magazine in Denmark...which I look forward to reading one of these days...I think, and on some local radio station in Copenhagen. Oh and on Christiania TV...it all counts, doesn't it?

Well, I continue to plod on trusting that I am somehow conrtibuting to this world that may or may not be here much longer depending on a certain Copenhagen Climate meeting. Can you imagine 13 world leaders agreeing on anything, never mind 130!? We need to pray hard!!

Ida Klemann Marches into my new calendar!

2010 is on its way and I have put together a new calendar with 13 of my favourite paintings. I had to leave out about 10 other favourites, but that is a good dilemma to have. If you are interested in having a signed copy yourself, write to me from my website or visit Christiania now. They cost 150 danish kroner, or equivalent in other currencies. This is a high quality product that even pernickety me is happy with.

The painter and the poet - Leah and Leif have finally released their 6 song album and it is available in Christiania through Leif at Gallopperiet, or through me. Just send me an email. The music has a folky love song feel, but must have somethine else as well, since folk music and love-songs aren't normally my 'thang'.

My drumkit consists of a plastic water tank, large tin and a couple of Moroccan drums. Our bass player - Ole - carved his own instrument and Leif has a unique and genuine voice which suits the songs perfectly! The songs are sung in Danish which is always fun for the foreigner! However, I am happy to offer interpretation for the curious:)

Also suitable as therapy - A friend in Scotland says he listens to it in the car to reduce his road-rage!! Aint that a good thing! He says it is beautifully simple and easy to listen to, with a good balance of space and sound.

This is genuine music from Christianias own talent!

OK, today it finally happened - there was good weather! I had planned to create a collaborative art piece using spray paint an. Every type of person - young, old, native, foreign, egotistical, purpose-driven, you name it. That was really great! I will let you know more soon. But for now, know that it will be exhibited at:
